The main functions of the photocatalyst of the indoor mosquito killer lamp include antibacterial, anti-mold, air purification (deodorization, exhaust purification), self-purification, anti-fog, air purification, water treatment and other fields.



1. Antibacterial and mildew proof



Under light irradiation, titanium dioxide produces active oxygen such as hydroxide radicals, which has stronger oxidizing ability than chlorine, hypochlorous acid, hydrogen peroxide and ozone, which are commonly used for disinfection and sterilization, and exerts antibacterial effect to stop the reproduction of bacteria or molds. (1) Titanium dioxide has no antibacterial activity when there is no light. Traditional antibacterial agents prevent the growth of bacteria or kill bacteria through the dissolution and release of medicinal ingredients. Using the same method as the lead dissolution test from tableware, the test shows that the titanium dioxide does not dissolve at all. The titanium dioxide photocatalyst has an antibacterial effect in the early stage of light. Since the active oxygen such as hydroxide radicals generated under light has a short lifespan, bacteria cannot exert antibacterial effects if they are not in the vicinity of titanium dioxide. Therefore, the titanium dioxide is embedded in the surface of the carrier or adhesive. Experiments have proved that the photocatalyst is coated on the ceramic surface and then sintered, its antibacterial effect is quite good.



(2) Since titanium dioxide does not change when it acts as a catalyst (photocatalyst), in principle, it can be used semi-permanently. If there is light, it can be semi-permanently effective.



(3) Hydroxyl radicals generated under titanium dioxide light irradiation can decompose almost all organic matter into non-toxic substances such as carbon dioxide. Therefore, not only can it be antibacterial and mildew proof, it can decompose organic matter that is used as a food bait for bacteria or molds, but also decompose toxins released by bacteria or molds. Moreover, it can also destroy cancer cells, and can decompose and harmlessly dissolve various harmful chemicals and malodorous chemicals in the air.
